Buy Select Blu-ray or DVD Movies on Amazon, See Movies in Theaters for Free

By Rachel Cericola

Not sure you want to spend the money on a movie outing? Would FREE motivate you to actually leave the house?

Amazon and Sony Pictures want to make it much easier to go to the movies this summer. For a limited time, they are offering $10 in movie cash toward admission to select films in theaters, if you buy any one of a select list of Blu-ray Discs or DVDs from Sony Pictures. Check out what movies are eligible, as well as the complete offer details here:

There is quite a nice selection of eligible titles -- 56 movies in all. Buy any one of the DVDs or Blu-rays between now and September 6, 2010 and you'll get a code that will lead you to $10 in movie cash redeemable at your local theater. In some cases, the cost of the Blu-ray Disc or DVD is actually less than the value of the movie cash so that's almost like making money on the deal (well, almost).

Amazon's offer details page also states that the $10 credit can be exchanged for concession cash so if you'd prefer to use this coupon for popcorn and/or a tasty beverage at your local participating theater, then you should be able to do this as well.  Complete details are available on the Amazon web site.

In either case, first buy one of the eligible Blu-ray titles, then complete the instructions on the offer page to get concession cash or movie cash good for admission to one of the eligible films at participating theaters. The movie cash offer is limited to admission on Angelina Jolie's Salt, the Will Ferrell/Mark Wahlberg buddy cop comedy, The Other Guys, or Julia Roberts' romantic romp, Eat Pray Love.

Once you have the code, and print out your coupon, it's good on admission through October 9, 2010. Check out the site for more details on this offer as well as a peek through the Blu-ray titles being offered. Here are a few of our favorites, in case you need a few ideas...
