Samsung PN50C490 50-inch 3DTV: $973 with 2 Pairs of 3D Glasses

By Rachel Cericola

Samsung recently made headlines by announcing the PN50C490, the first 3D TV to sell for under $1000. As if the price point weren't interesting enough, Amazon is turning the set into even more of a bargain by throwing in two free pairs of 3D glasses (a $300 value) with every purchase.

The deal to get the 3D glasses is available from now through 11:59 p.m. (PST) on October 2, 2010. Just add the 3D TV and two pairs of the glasses to your shopping cart. The savings will be reflected before you check out. Check out other terms and conditions on Amazon's offer page:

If you're looking for a 3D TV, Samsung's 50-inch PN50C490 plasma is very nice for the price. It boasts a 720p image (technically, 1366x768 pixels), with support for 1080p sources, as well as a rated 2,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, and three HDMI 1.4 jacks. Other noteworthy features include ConnectShare Movie, which basically allows for video playback through the TV's USB port. Also, the bezel has Samsung's own Touch of Color design, which means the unit looks good -- even when it's off. Find out more on the PN50C490's product page:

At last look, Amazon was offering this unit for a mere $973.34, with free shipping. Also, don't forget the free 3D glasses. The ones being offered are Samsung's SSG-2100AB active shutter glasses. You can check those out on Amazon's product page:

Don't stop clicking just yet. One other interesting tidbit is that Amazon is offering $200 off a TiVo Premiere or Premiere XL with select TV purchases -- and one of them just happens to be the PN50C490. So aside from the freebies, you can score a TiVo Premiere for $99 (after instant discount) from now through October 31, 2010. Just add the TiVo Premiere or TiVo Premiere XL to your cart, along with a qualifying TV in order to get the instant $200 promotional credit at checkout.  The Premiere can hold about 45 hours of high-def or 400 hours of standard-def. If that doesn't sound like enough for your eyeballs, the Premiere XL bumps those numbers up to 150 hours of HD and 1350 of SD. Check out details of the offer here:

As you can tell, the TiVo rebate is being offered with a variety of different TVs. One important thing we should point out: Both offers are only good on TVs purchased directly from Amazon, and not the retailer's third-party "marketplace" merchants so be sure to add these to your cart with Amazon.com as the seller in order to qualify for the promotions.
