Bring the Curve to Your Home Theater with Stewart's New Total Close CineCurve Projection Screen

By Rachel Cericola

A lot of TV manufacturers have been praising the benefits of a curved screen, saying that it makes the whole viewing experience a more immersive one. Well, imagine how in-your-face the experience would be on a curved screen that's 10-feet wide.

Stewart Filmscreen is making that a real possibility, by introducing the new Total Close CineCurve front projection screen system. This native 2.40:1 screen has a slightly curved frame and surface, which boasts better uniformity, without the pin-cushioning effect from anamorphic projector lenses. Of course, it also wraps you up in that image just like a curved TV -- only a lot bigger.

That arch was also designed to direct light back to the viewer. That translates into less ambient light on the screen and a better overall image.

The constant-height/variable-width masking system makes it so you can enjoy different aspect ratios on this big, curved screen. However, Stewart is also giving the CineCurve the new Total Close masking system, which can quietly close when it's not in use, keeping it safe from dust, debris, light, little fingers, and other damaging factors.

Also worth mentioning is the VeLux black appliqué finish, which helps boost the contrast. And because the Total Close CineCurve is customizable, it can be built to a specific curve radius in sizes up to 124 inches. Larger sizes are also available without the Total Close feature.

"Those who make the investment in a Stewart Filmscreen Total Close CineCurve screen system will be treated to optimal image quality and an ideal viewing experience, that also delivers both an aesthetically pleasing and protective option," says Grant Stewart, president and CEO of Stewart Filmscreen.

Pricing has yet to be announced. However, Stewart Filmscreen will debut the Total Close CineCurve front projection screen system at Integrated Systems Europe 2015. The show runs in Amsterdam from February 10-12, 2015.
