Bowers & Wilkins Want to Air Your Tunes with AirPlay Wireless Music Systems

By Rachel Cericola

Bowers & Wilkins are certainly no strangers to AirPlay. The company had a lot of success including Apple's streaming technology in its award-winning Zeppelin Air Wireless Speaker.

Now the company is adding AirPlay into two new Wireless Music Systems, the A7 and A5. Both allow users to stream content directly to the speaker, via any networked iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, Mac or PC.

The newly announced Wireless Music Systems pack big sound into small packages, which means each one is easy to move from room to room. Each one is also easy to control using the Bowers & Wilkins Setup App, which is available as a free download at the iTunes app strore.

The A7 is the standout, promising audiophile-grade electronics including Digital to Analog Converters that are capable of up-scaling audio to 24bit/96kHz. It also has a 6-inch dedicated bass driver, which boasts full, controlled bass -- even in larger rooms.

For more compact areas, such as the bedroom, kitchen or even a living room that's short on space, there's the A5. This model also promises room filling sound, but from a device with a much smaller footprint. Other features include drivers from the company's M-1 speakers, anti-resonance plug technology and dimpled Flowports, which are paired with digital-to-analog converters and processors.

B&W will start shipping the A5 and A7 next month for $499.99 and $799.99, respectively. The Zeppelin Air is available now, with an MSRP of $599.95.
