Boston Acoustics i-DS3 iPod/iPhone Dock Sounds Good, Looks Neat

The renowned manufacturer of high-performance loudspeakers and tabletop radios, Boston Acoustics has designed a new flagship for its line of iPod docks, the i-DS3 Powered Speaker System with Wireless Subwoofer for iPhone/iPod. Providing 100 total watts of power, the i-DS3 is a two-piece system that assures capable delivery of the low end missing from so many iPod stereo docks, in a compact, attractive form factor marked by high-gloss cabinets and the soundbar's perforated metal front grille.

The soundbar portion of the i-DS3 features dual three-and-a-half-inch woofers and dual half-inch tweeters, while the freestanding subwoofer connects via the built-in 2.4GHz wireless transmitter, so it can be placed wherever it sounds best, without the issue of running wires. Housed in a ported, downward-firing enclosure, the sub boasts a frequency response of 35-150Hz for exceptional bass response. iPods can charge while they are connected, and an iPhone can even receive calls while in the dock. In addition, an auxiliary input allows the i-DS3 to work with other music players.

The two-piece B.A. i-DS3 stereo system looks so good (in black or white), you almost don't want to hide the wireless subwoofer.

A handy mini-remote provides familiar iPod control, and S-video/composite video outputs enable pass-through to the TV of photos and video from any video-capable iPod. The i-DS3 is available now in black or white, at a suggested list price of $499.99.
