Boston Acoustics Upgrades SoundWare Speaker Line with S Series

By Rachel Cericola

A few years back, Boston Acoustics released a fun little speaker system called the SoundWare XS. Well, it's been a while, which means it's time for an upgrade.

Today, Boston Acoustics announced the latest in the SoundWare line, the SoundWare S Home Theater Speaker System. Promising a more immersive surround sound experience, the SoundWare S features a total of six pieces.

Five SoundWare S satellite speakers make up most of this setup. Every speaker meaures less than four inches, making each one easy to squeeze into smaller spaces. These two-way speakers feature 3.5-inch mid-bass drivers and 0.75-inch dome tweeters. Dual wire channels with rear panel wire grooves complete that easy installation process. Other features include the distinct SoundWare polyhedron shape, articulating mounting brackets, and MagnaGuard magnetic shielding.

Adding a little boom to this compact set is the matching 10-inch 200-watt (300-watt Peak) powered subwoofer, which has the company's patented BassTrac circuitry.

Boston Acoustics says that the system is designed for people that want room-filling sound, without having to fill that same room with speaker cabinets.

"Our SoundWare line has been embraced because of its distinct design and flexibility. Now consumers looking for a compact, high performing home theater speaker system have another option with our SoundWare S," said Kevin Zarow, VP of sales for Boton Acoustics. "The slightly larger sized SoundWare S speakers create an even greater acoustic experience than that of our award-winning SoundWare XS 5.1 system."

If you want to be surrounded by sound from a few additional angles, Boston Acoustics is also selling SoundWare S Special Edition satellite speakers. This option allows you to turn the SoundWare S into a 6.1- or 7.1-channel sound system.

The SoundWare S Home Theater Speaker System is now available with a high-gloss black finish and an MSRP of $799.99. The additional S speakers are also available a la carte for $89.99 each.
