While sales and rentals of media like DVD and Blu-ray Disc may be on the decline, Blu-ray is still the best way to watch a movie at home. Forget buffering, low quality streaming video and compressed audio. Get the Blu-ray and enjoy real 1080p HD video and multi-channel lossless audio. And Black Friday weekend is a great time to add to your collection.
Between Best Buy and Amazon, there are plenty of excellent deals on Blu-ray Disc. I just picked up "Divergent" and "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" on Blu-ray for $7.99 each. Best Buy has "Transformers: Age of Extinction" for $5.99 and "The Lego Movie" and "Raiders of the Lost Ark" for $3.99. Some titles at Best Buy may be back-ordered online but I was able to order online and pick up in the store the same day.
Also, Amazon has the awesome "Lord of the Rings" Blu-ray boxed set with the extended editions of all three films for $41.99. You can also get the entire collection of Harry Potter movies for $39.99 (for the next few hours) as well as the original Star Wars trilogy on Blu-ray for $29.99.
We'd recommend surfing through both sites' Blu-ray Deals sections (links below) to see what they have as stock may vary. But here are a few of our favorites:
