Blu-ray Deals: Dexter: Seasons 1-5: $126.49 Shipped

By Rachel Cericola

With season seven just a few weeks away, now is the time to catch up on Dexter. Showtime just released the Dexter: The Sixth Season Blu-ray set so fans can catch up. However, if you haven't had the chance to watch this acclaimed series, you may want to take advantage of another new tidbit.

Amazon just announced plans to discount the Dexter: Seasons 1-5 Blu-ray set. For a limited time, the retailer is slashing 57 percent off the price of the 15-disc set, making it just $126.49. That price also includes free Super Saver shipping.

It's also your opportunity to meet Dexter Morgan (played by Six Feet Under's Michael C. Hall). He's a mild-mannered member of the Miami-Metro Police Department, working in forensics as a self-proclaimed "lab geek." He doesn't actually fight crime -- well, technically he does. That's because Dexter likes spend his free time taking matters into his own hands, bringing those evildoers to justice. So basically, he's just your everyday serial killer who snuffs serial killers.

Each season focuses around Dexter, his sister/co-worker Deb (Jennifer Carpenter), and a slew of other characters. Then of course, there are the killers. Expect the likes of the Ice Truck Killer, the Bay Harbor Butcher, The Skinner, and Trinity to be just a few of the characters haunting your nightmares for a little while.

When buying this Blu-ray set, make sure you order from Amazon -- and not one of the retailer's third-party merchants. Amazon has the low price, as well as the free Super Saver shipping. There's still time to catch up before season seven of Dexter hits Showtime on September 30, 2012. There's not much time to catch this deal, though; it ends on Saturday, August 18, 2012 or whenever the retailer runs out of stock.
