Earlier this year, AudioControl released a pair of receivers with Dolby Atmos and the promise of DTS:X support. Now the latter has arrived.
The company just announced that DTS:X and DTS Neural Surround support is now available for theĀ AudioControl Concert AVR-7 and AVR-9 home theater receivers, as well as the Maestro M9 theater processor.
Like Dolby Atmos, DTS:X is an immersive audio format that can deliver sound from almost any angle -- including above. However, it isn't just about placing speakers on the ceiling. The format allows sound to travel like it does in real life. For instance, when helicopters soar across the screen, the sound moves from speaker to speaker, in order to deliver a truly lifelike experience. The firmware will also feature DTS Neural Surround, which can upconvert audio from just about any source, including TV, streaming media, gaming, and more.
Existing customers can add these features with a firmware update, while new models will come packing the goods.
The Concert AVR-7 is a 7.1.4 home theater receiver that promises 100 watts per channel (into 8 ohms). It also has seven HDMI inputs with HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2 support, two HDMI outputs (ARC supported), and a USB input. The Concert AVR-9 is a slight step up, promising 200 watts per channel (into 4 ohms). The Maestro M9 is a 7.1.4 surround processor with individual Burr Brown DACs, seven HDMI inputs with HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2 support, two HDMI outputs, and a USB port, as well as IP, RS232, 12 volt trigger, and IR control options.
AudioControl has made both DTS formats available via the mode selection menu on each home theater receiver and the flagship M9 processor. If you don't own one of these components already, all three are shipping now.
