Atlantic Technology Ships ICTS-6.1-IP In-Ceiling Speakers for $125
Great sound doesn't always have to be seen. It also doesn't have to use speaker wire.
Atlantic Technology just announced its new ICTS-6.1-IP in-ceiling speakers. Designed to nestle above your head and crank out great sound, this unit does have the option to use the speaker wire we know and love. However, it can pull double-duty, which means it's fully compatible with IP-based whole-house systems like NetStreams.
On the back, the speaker has conventional speaker terminals as well as an IP connector (also known as a network port). Inside, the ICTS-6.1-IP uses a 6-1/2-inch long-excursion Polypropylene woofer and a pivoting 1-inch silk dome tweeter to make the sound appear where you want it.
"We have built some really good ceiling speakers over the years," said Steve Feinstein, Atlantic Technology's Director of Marketing and Product Development, "but never one that sounds this good for such a modest price-and it has full IP capabilities. Whether it's used for music in the kitchen or home theater in the bedroom, installers are going to love this speaker. It's easy to install, it sounds great and it's priced right for today's marketplace."
The ICTS-6.1-IP is also versatile for placement, because the white grilles can be painted to blend into any decor. Available accessories include a new construction bracket and a back box to provide a sealed enclosure.
Amazon is taking orders for the ICTS-6.1-IP right now. It's priced at a very respectable $125 (each). That should allow you to stuff them all over the house for a nice little boost of sound from above.
