Aperion Audio Announces Intimus 4BP Bipole Surround Speaker

By Rachel Cericola

As we all know, good surround sound doesn't come cheap. And if you do try to skimp on the speakers, you usually get what you pay for. Well, Aperion Audio isn't going to cheapen up the market. However, their new Intimus 4BP Bipole Surround Speaker is certainly affordable at $199.

This is the latest in a series of five new products for the direct-to-consumer manufacturer. Expect an outdoor speaker to arrive this summer. For the great indoors, though, Aperion says that the 4BP offers wide sound dispersion and an impressive soundstage, but plenty of flexibility when it comes to room placement.

"The objective of a surround speaker is to create an enveloping, non-localized sound field," said Ken Humphreys, Aperion's Lead Audio Speaker Engineer. "The 4BPs do this by using a bipole tweeter configuration that spreads the sound over a wide area -- all in an affordable, small, easy to mount package."

That package includes a pair of 1-inch "audiophile-grade" silk-dome tweeters, which are positioned at opposing angles. It also has the same 4-inch woven-fiberglass woofer as the company's award-winning Aperion Intimus 4T Tower Speaker. Other features include a magnetic grill, an anti-resonant cabinet and wall mounting brackets.

Available in furniture-grade cherry wood or high-gloss piano black, the Intimus 4BP Bipole Surround Speaker is out now for $199 each, which includes free shipping and one of those sexy purple velvet pouches.  You can also take home the 4BP as part of an affordable new 5.1 channel speaker package, the Intimus 4B-BP Fusion SA for a system price of $1137.00.
