Aperion Audio Expands High-end Verus Speaker Line with Small but Elegant Verus Forte Models

By Rachel Cericola

We love new products. You can't get any newer than Aperion Audio's Verus Forte speaker line. The direct-to-consumer company just announced the new line, and is now taking orders.

The new speaker series is based on the company's top of the line Verus Grand series, which was first announced last fall. However, these new Verus Forte models should put Aperion into more homes, since they are available in a variety of smaller sizes, as well as smaller prices.

Verus Forte speakers are elegantly slender to be sure, but also pack in new technology to make the most out of these smaller cabinets, most notably the new, specially designed Axially Stabilized Radiator tweeter. The center channel and bookshelf speakers also add in the Aperion PhaseSync Driver, which promises big performance from a small package.

The Verus Forte family has a tower speaker, a center channel, and a bookshelf speaker. All feature bi-ampable 5-way gold-plated binding posts and come in gloss real cherry-wood veneer or piano-black lacquer.

Aperion's Verus Forte Tower features a 3-way, ported, curved cabinet, which packs in the 1-inch ASR tweeter, a 4.25-inch mid-range driver, and two 4.25-inch woofers. This tower also boasts a frequency response of 53-20,000 Hz (+/- 3 dB), an impedance of 6 ohms, and sensitivity rating of 90dB.

The 2-way Verus Forte Bookshelf model has one 4.25-inch Aperion PhaseSync Driver with the integrated ASR tweeter. Rounding out the series is the 3-way Verus Forte Center Channel. This model includes the same Aperion PhaseSync Driver/ASR tweeter, with one 4.25-inch woofer and one 4.25-inch passive radiator.

All Aperion Audio Verus Forte speakers are available for preorder, with models expected to ship on February 22, 2011. The Verus Forte Tower runs $990 per pair, with the center coming in at $350, and the Verus Forte priced at $350 per pair. That cost includes free shipping, free lifetime customer support, and a risk-free 30-day in-home audition.
