Just when you thought HDTV-ready LCD TV pricing couldn't drop any lower, it does. eCost now has the Niko 32 inch HDTV-ready LCD TV for $749.99 after rebate, and buy.com has a Norcent 32 inch HDTV-ready LCD TV for $899 including free budget shipping.
HDTV vs. HDTV-Ready?
Still wondering what's the difference between HDTV and "HDTV-ready?" Well, the only difference is that an HDTV comes with a built-in ATSC tuner so you can receive HDTV signals broadcast over the air using an antenna. An "HDTV-ready" TV offers the full resolution and picture quality of an HDTV, but without the high definition tuner.
But if you get your HDTV via cable or satellite, then you actually don't need the tuner - just plug in your high definition cable box or satellite receiver into this unit's component video or DVI input, sit back and enjoy the true high definition resolution of this LCD flat panel.
