According to a recent press release, Epson will be including the Silicon Optix HQV TX3 processor in an external box with their PowerLite Pro Cinema 800 projector for a package price of $6,999 (minimum retail price). The PowerLite Pro Cinema 800 itself is a High Definition (720p) 3-chip LCD projector.

I've seen the HQV processor demonstrated and it produces some of the best-looking images from standard definition sources such as DVD and NTSC television. But it also enhances High Definition program material as well, creating an image optimized for the native resolution of the display device (in this case, 1280X720 pixels).

The Realta HQV video engine incoporates 10-bit video processing, full four-field, pixel-based, motion-adaptive video deinterlacing for both SD and HD signals, temporal-recursive and codec noise reduction, automatic multicadence detection, and pixel-based detail enhancement. It also uses the same video processing power—one trillion operations per second—as the $60,000 Teranex Xantus box.

The Epson PowerLite Pro Cinema 800 and the HQV TX3 external video-processor package will be available in June through the CEDIA channel and authorized Epson dealers.
