VIZIO Announces 31 New LCD HDTV Models

VIZIO made a big announcement today -- or at least a long announcement. Instead of just rolling out one new product, the manufacturer has announced a whopping 31 new HDTVs.

The best part about the news is that VIZIO seems to be sticking to its discount prices. The most expensive model is a 55-incher, which will retail for $2,199.99. When all is said and done, the company will have released models in three lines.

The XVT series is the top of the heap, with refresh rates ranging from 120Hz to 240Hz, USB video inputs and "Mega Dynamic Contrast Ratios" of up to 2,000,000:1 (which exceeds measurability, but hey, everybody else is doing it). Six models range from 32 to 55 inches, with prices ranging from $749.99 to the aforementioned $2,199.99 for a 55-inch LED-backlit LCD TV with local dimming technology.  So much for being "behind the curve."
This VIZIO VF550XVT is out now.

You might think that M stands for middle of the road, but it doesn't. Instead, it's just the series that VIZIO has designed to look like wood picture frames. Those 17 models will come in sizes ranging from 22 to 55 inches, with pricing between $349.99 and $1,799.99.

Last, but not least, the other eight models will be part of the E series. In this case, E probably does stand for "economical," because the company says these are all about the "value." All of those include SRS Labs' TruSurround technology and a white or black piano color bezel. Some even include VIZIO's EcoHD, which can reduce energy consumption by as much as 20 percent below Energy Star 3.0 standards. Those sizes range from 19 to 32 inches, with prices ranging between $249.99 and $849.99

Some of the new VIZIO models are shipping now, with the remainder of releases being sprinkled throughout the summer and wrapping up in September.
