VIZIO's New Budget-friendly M Series 4K Ultra HD TVs Will Start at $599.99

By Rachel Cericola

Who says that a 4K Ultra HD TV has to break the bank? Not VIZIO. The company that's known for its low prices is introducing a new collection that may push 4K TV into the mainstream.

The new 2015 M-Series Ultra HD Full-Array LED Smart TV collection will include screen sizes ranging from 43 to 80 inches. In other words, there should be a little something here to fit any and every space in your house. Even more importantly, the company is starting this new series at the low price of $599.99. Of course, each set has that 4K image. However, before you start forking over money, let's look at what else this affordable 4K TV lineup includes.

Each of the nine models in the M-Series has a Spatial Scaling Engine, which means it can upscale lower resolution content to a near-4K image. Other features include full-array LED backlighting with up to 32 active LED zones, up to Clear Action 720 with a 240Hz effective refresh rate for smooth action and sports, and Active Pixel Tuning for adjusting brightness and contrast.

Of course, each model can also support 4K, with over 8.3 million pixels in every image. That's four times the resolution of a full 1080p HDTV!

The M-Series also packs in VIZIO's V6 six-core processor and 802.11ac dual-band WiFi, which is perfect for displaying VIZIO Internet Apps Plus. The latter is the company's latest smart TV platform, which can stream Ultra HD content from Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, UltraFlix and Toon Goggles. (There are plenty of other apps, too!)

Other features include HDCP 2.0 support, the latest HDMI 2.0 spec, a slim profile and an ultra-thin bezel. VIZIO is also shipping each M-Series model with a two-sided remote that has a backlit QWERTY keyboard.

"VIZIO is committed to providing mainstream access to Ultra HD technology," said Matt McRae, VIZIO's chief technology officer. "Last fall, we disrupted the market with the VIZIO 50-inch P-Series Ultra HD Smart TV, now the #1 selling UHD TV, and this year, we're poised to do it again with M-Series. Ultra HD is here to stay and consumers are continuing to seek out technologies that deliver a more immersive entertainment experience. With Ultra HD content options on the rise, VIZIO is committed to ensuring consumers have the ability to enjoy the enhancements in picture quality in their homes at the best possible value."
