Amazon is discounting a little something that most people would love to see under the tree on Christmas morning. For today only, the online retailer is discounting the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 Tablet.
Right now, Amazon is slashing 30 percent off the list price of the Fire HDX 8.9, in several different flavors. That includes the 32GB and 64GB versions, with and without "special offers." A total of 12 different tablets are eligible for this discount, which even includes free Super Saver Shipping. (However, if you want it in time for Christmas, you'll need to opt for two-day service.) First and foremost, we should mention that the Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 includes support for the Dolby Atmos audio format. It's hard to imagine such big sound coming from a tiny tablet. However, Dolby promises to create the same 3D-style experience for headphone users, with multidimensional sound that seems to flow above and around you.
It also has two other Dolby-enhanced audio perks. That includes a volume-leveling technology, so you won't get blown out every time you switch between a movie, video games and music. There's even a Volume Maximizer feature, which can give the device's built-in speakers a little boost.
The Fire HDX 8.9 features the Fire OS 4 ("Sangria"), a 2.5GHz processor, the HDX display that promises "exceptional pixel density (over 4 million pixels, 339 ppi) and perfect color accuracy (100-percent sRGB), and Dynamic Light Control. There's even a front-facing camera, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with an LED flash, and support for 802.11ac MIMO super-fast WiFi.
It's worth noting that you'll need to choose which model best suits you or your gift recipient. There are WiFi-only versions, with and without "special offers."
