Straight Wire Push Prong RCA Makes Anyone A Terminator

By Chris Chiarella

Developed by Straight Wire President Steven Hill, the Push Prong RCA plug is his response to the growing demand for a high-quality cable that can be terminated quickly and reliably in the field, or anywhere, without the need for solder or elaborate tools. The more common compression-type plugs are not reusable, so a mistake means a wasted plug. By comparison, with Push Prong RCA we can simply unscrew the barrel and bend out the prongs--with a fingernail--then re-cut and re-terminate as needed.

To use, all we need do is strip a quarter- to a third-inch of the center conductor, ignoring the shields, and load the barrel of the plug over the end of the wire. We then push the conductor into the center hole, giving the wire a slight twist. The three annealed brass alloy prongs inside the insulated flange/cap pierce the jacket to make contact with the shield: Just tighten with our bare hands and we're done.

Straight Wire's push prong system makes field termination of RCA cables a breeze.

A boon to do-it-yourselfers as well as custom installers, the Straight Wire Push Prong RCA plugs work best with industry standard 23-gauge coaxial cable, so proprietary materials are not necessary. Pricing starts at only $4 per plug, with quantity discounts available.
