Roku Plays Ball Via MLB.TV

By Rachel Cericola

Play ball -- on your TV, anyway. Roku just announced that they are adding MLB.TV to the roster of entertainment available on the Roku digital video player.

The addition is an exclusive for MLB.TV Premium subscribers. If you have an account, you can watch MLB games from all over the country, in high-definition quality, via the compact box. Using the Roku remote, viewers can pause, fast forward during live gameplay.

Missed a game? Instead of waiting for SportsCenter highlights, the service also provides on-demand access to games from the past week.

If you already have a Roku player, look for the MLB.com channel to pop up within the next few days. It should show up via an automatic upgrade. If you can’t wait, click on Settings, Player Info, then Check for Update.

The $99 Roku player offers instant access to Netflix and Amazon Video On Demand. Some fees apply for each service. If you want to add in MLB.TV Premium, expect to pay $19.95 per month, or $34.95 for the rest of the season.
