Paradigm Gets Low with Affordable PDR-80 and PDR-100 Subwoofers plus Wireless PDR-W100

By Greg Robinson

In news coming out of this week's CEDIA Expo in Atlanta, Paradigm is freshening up their popular PDR Series of budget subwoofers while adding a new wireless model to the mix. The new 8-inch PDR-80 will replace the PDR-8 while the 10-inch PDR-100 replaces the PDR-10. New to the party is the PDR-W100, a wireless version of the PDR-100.

Like the PDR-80 and PDR-100, the PDR-W100 incorporates a single front-firing driver. However, this wireless-ready subwoofer offers much greater placement flexibility thanks to Paradigm's own wireless transmitter, which is included with the sub. With its built-in high-power amplifier, the PDR-W100 delivers 360 Watts Dynamic Peak and 120 Watts RMS Sustained power.

All models in the newly-updated PDR Series feature a crossover bypass option, a 0/180-degree phase alignment switch, dual rear ports, removable grilles and a Black Ash cabinet finish. Each of the new models should be available in late October and will be priced as follows:

PDR-80 - 8˝ (210 mm) cone; 300 watts Dynamic Peak/100 watts RMS; 32 Hz Low-Frequency Extension; 14 in x 12 in x 14.375 in; 24 lbs - $279

PDR-100- 10˝ (255 mm) cone; 360 watts Dynamic Peak/120 watts RMS; 29 Hz Low-Frequency Extension; 15.5 in x 13.125 in x 15.25 in; 29 lbs - $399

PDR-W100 - 10˝ (255 mm) cone; 360 watts Dynamic Peak/120 watts RMS; 29 Hz Low-Frequency Extension; 15.5 in x 13.125 in x 15.25 in; Wireless; 29 lbs - $499
