OmniMount Pushes the Power40 Remote-Controlled TV Mount

By Rachel Cericola

OmniMount is tapping into the power of YouTube to promote its new Power40 flat-panel mount.

Of course, you'd think the concept of a remote-controlled TV mount wouldn't need much additional fanfare. Well, it wouldn't if you're an A/V geek. Still, those millions searching the term "donkey at house party" (and you know there are millions) should get a little surprise -- and OmniMount should get a little extra promotion.

The YouTube video is a hip-hop parody that helps explain some of the Power40's benefits. It also gives those potential buyers a peek at the OmniMount staff, some of which appear in the video.

If a catchy, goofy viral video doesn't pique your interest, the company has a tamer method of marketing madness. Buy a Power40 and you'll score three free months of Netflix. How easy is that? If you're the type that loves something free (i.e. everyone), the promotion runs now through June 30, 2009. Once you make your purchase, fill out the online form to get your gift subscription.

As part of the MotionPicture Series, the Power40 is a motorized mount that's perfect for medium-sized flat panels with screen sizes from 23 to 40 inches. Once the TV is installed, users can tilt, pan and swivel up a storm at the touch of a button. Other features include a whisper-quiet 40dB motor and programmable wall detection.

The Power40 is available now through authorized retailers nationwide. The MSRP is $349.95, although Amazon has it for a whole lot less (see below).  It's also available in a larger size for TVs 37-inch to 55-inch (Power55).

The Power40 fits most flat panels with screen sizes from 23 inches to 40 inches and weighing up to 66 pounds. A larger size is also available.
