OmniMount Orbit 50 TV Stand Tops New Furniture Line

By Chris Chiarella

OmniMount continues to make some of the most ingenious wall-mounting solutions for flat screen TVs of all sizes, and their booth at CEDIA Expo in Denver last week held no end of innovative options for hanging plasmas and LCDs like modern works of art. But what if you don't want your TV on the wall, and what about your source components? I was surprised to discover multiple furniture lines from Omnimount, with the upcoming Orbit 50 being my favorite piece.

A part of the stylish, expanding Karim Collection, created in partnership with industrial/interior designer Karim Rashid, the Orbit 50 is specifically designed to provide corner-friendly support for a display up to 50 inches and 125 pounds. While not intended to house massive receivers and the like, it can accommodate compact gear like current DVD players or even integrated HTiB components, with cable management slots for routing wires through the center post.

The Orbit 50 stand combines strength, good looks, and is a pretty smart design, too.

At once practical and eye-catching, the Orbit 50 sports a real wood walnut veneer and a clean, high-gloss white finish that can fit easily into a variety of room settings. At press time, the price had not yet been finalized.
