Netflix 4K Streaming Now Available on Panasonic AX800 Ultra HD TVs

By Rachel Cericola

For all of you still wondering what 4K content there is out there, we have an answer -- at least for Panasonic Ultra HD TV owners.

Panasonic just announced that they are adding Netflix 4K support to the lengthy list of features on the AX800 4K Ultra HD LED TV Series. That means you can enjoy all sorts of movies and TV shows, such as Breaking Bad, House of Cards, and Orange Is The New Black, all with an eye-popping 4K image.

And if you are a fan of those Netflix originals, this would seem like pretty perfect timing. The streaming service is planning to launch a new series, Marco Polo, this December.

The big hook on the AX800 is that it has four times the resolution of a 1080p TV. That's 3840 x 2160 pixels! Other features include THX 4K certification, Studio Master Drive color reproduction, 2400 BLS (Back Light Scanning) technology, Local Dimming Pro, and more.

It even has tons of smart TV options beyond Netflix. Those come via the company's Life+Screen platform, which offers home screen personalization, recommendations, and information right at your fingertips. The AX800 even has a built-in camera with face recognition, so that the TV can instantly recognize the user and you can use it as a huge-screen video phone.

If you currently own one of the AX800 models, you should have already received a firmware update adding support for the 4K version of Netflix. If you're still wondering and researching about 4K TVs, now may be a good time to buy, since Panasonic is currently discounting this series and throwing in some nice freebies to boot.

The 58-inch TC-58AX800U is selling right now for $1,999.99. If saving $1,300 off the MSRP isn't enough, just add in the code BLURAY360 during checkout, and Panasonic will throw in a free DMP-BDT360 streaming Blu-ray player. That's like getting an extra $128 for free! This 3D-capable model boasts the ability to upconvert to 4K Ultra HD, as well as convert 2D content to 3D. It also has built-in Wi-Fi, access to a variety of different apps, support for DLNA, and mirroring features via Miracast. Find out more on the Panasonic website:

For something a little larger, the 65-inch TC-65AX800U is also on sale for $2,999.99, which is $1,000 less than the MSRP. Of course, that also has a little freebie as well. Just enter the code FULLSYSTEM2014 during checkout, and you'll receive the Panasonic SC-HTB580 soundbar with this purchase. This 3.1-channel package typically sells for $299.99, but can be yours absolutely free. Besides the 3-channel soundbar, the setup includes its own wireless down-firing subwoofer. The whole package boasts 310 watts of total power, as well as on-board decoding for Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II, Dolby Virtual Speaker and DTS Digital Surround audio formats. Also worth noting is that it has Bluetooth, so you can stream music directly to the setup from your favorite iOS and Android portables, as well as other compatible devices. Check it out on Panasonic's website:

Panasonic also plans to ship the 65-inch AX900 and 85-inch AX850 4K Ultra HD LED LCD TVs next month. Both of these THX 4K-certified displays will offer Netflix 4K streaming right out of the box -- with a subscription, of course. Find out more about these beauties here:

Netflix currently charges a premium for 4K streaming with a dedicated Ultra HD plan.  This allows users to stream 4K content to up to 4 devices at once for $11.99 per month.
