NHT Re-Launches Itself as an Online Speaker Company

By Chris Boylan

Taking a page from the book of Web 2.0, NHT (Now Hear This), a popular American maker of high quality speakers, has announced plans to take its business completely online. Effective immediately, NHT has resumed selling its speakers and other components through its trusted online retailers such as Audio Advisor, Amazon.com and One Call. But they will also begin selling their wares directly to the consumer at similar pricing.

Regardless of where a customer buys their speakers, NHT will ship all items directly to the buyer at no additional charge. This drop-shipping approach not only cuts the overall product cost, but speeds up the delivery of new products to the consumer while reducing energy consumption and environmental impact.

On Amazon.com you can build a custom package of NHT Classic speakers, now at reduced prices.
NHT's factory-direct store is already open for business at www.nhthifi.com. As a special "Hello Again" offer, you can pick up their highly acclaimed XD speaker system in a limited edition "Special Dark" finish for $2999 (regularly $7200). More modest (but still significant) discounts are also available on other more mainstream models including their "Classic" and "Verve" lines.  New pricing starts at $149 each for their Absolute Zero speakers, inspired by the now legendary SuperZero bookshelf speakers first released in the mid 1990s.  NHT co-founder Chris Byrne explains the tangible benefits of their new factory-direct model, "we are able to permanently reduce the price of our speakers by as much as 30% from their original suggested retail."

As part of the streamlining process, NHT has redirected resources toward new product development in a broader assortment of applications. "We have about eight new concepts in process right now," says Byrne. Stay tuned to find out where NHT goes from here, but we're glad to see them back in action.
