NAD Unveils new High-End Blu-ray Player

High-end audio/video component manufacturer NAD Electronics unveiled their new full-featured Blu-ray Disc player today. The T 587 (T587) is a Profile 2.0 player supporting BonusView and BD-Live network compatibility via Ethernet as well as on-board decoding of all next generation surround sound formats.

The unit's playback is compatible with BD-ROM, BD-R, and BD-RE formats in addition to standard definition DVDs in NTSC and PAL plus DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD-R/RW, and Audio CDs. The T 587 supports full 1080p/24 playback of Blu-ray Discs and offers Deep Color and xvYCC Extended Color Space features to provide a wide color gamut and extended color range from compatible source material.

For audio playback,  the T 587 supports standard uncompressed PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) signals up to 192kHz/24-bit at 7.1 channels over HDMI and can internally decode (to PCM) or bitstream Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS-HD High Resolution. The T 587 is also capable of bitstreaming Dolby Digital Plus and the legacy Dolby Digital and DTS codecs.

The T587 can send next generation audio codecs out over HDMI as the raw bitstream or decoded to multi-channel PCM.

The T 587 is expected to be available from authorized NAD dealers in December 2008 for a SRP of $1,499.
