Marantz Enhances Home Theater Receiver Line with Audyssey Technology

By Rachel Cericola

Marantz is well known for having killer audio products. Soon, they will be known for killer audio products with a little something special inside.

This week, Audyssey announced that their advanced speaker calibration and room correction technology will be featured inside each of Marantz's 2010 receivers. It's really no surprise, since the audio manufacturer was one of the first to incorporate Audyssey MultEQ room calibration and equalization back in 2005.

The new models will keep the MultEQ, and add in Audyssey Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume. Two of the receivers will also get Audyssey DSX and MultEQ Pro capability.

First up will be the very affordable Marantz NR1601 AV Receiver. Packing in four HDMI 1.4a inputs, this baby is ready for 3D whenever you are. Other features include a USB input, Bluetooth features (with the optional RX101), and HDMI-CEC support. Cranking 50 watts to each of the seven channels, this unit will ship this month with an MSRP of $599.

The AV7005 will feature Audyssey DSX, MultEQ XT, Dynamic EQ, Dynamic Volume, and MultEQ Pro.

Next month, the SR7005 will hit. With 125 watts going to each of seven channels, this 9.2-channel receiver is also 3D-ready, with six HDMI 1.4a inputs and two outputs. Other features include USB and Ethernet ports, as well as support for web radio and streaming services, such as Rhapsody, Napster, Pandora, and Flickr. That will cost $1599.

Also in August, the SR5005 will start selling for $799. This one has four HDMI 1.4a inputs and one output. Other features include HDMI-CEC support, a USB input, and composite/component to HDMI scaling up to 1080p.

When September rolls around, we will see the Marantz SR6005AV Receiver. The company has not said much about that one, but we know it will sell for $999.

Thankfully, they are slightly more vocal about the AV7005, which will start selling in October. This is the other high-end receiver, which is expected to sell for $1599. For that cost, this unit will come with Audyssey DSX,  MultEQ XT, Dynamic EQ and Dynamic Volume. Also, MultEQ Pro adds in a little something for the pros to tweak. Other features include 125 watts to seven channels, six HDMI 1.4a inputs and two outputs, USB and Ethernet ports, HDMI to HDMI scaling, and much more.
