Guide to 3D TV Bundles: Plasma, LED, LCD and More!

By Rachel Cericola

Note: many of the below bundles are no longer available. See our updated 3D TV Bundles.

As more consumer 3D TV products become available, we've seen a bit of a bundle bonanza! A bundle is when you buy one product and get one (or more!) for free -- or at least at a major discount.

Manufacturers and retailers have been bundling new 3D-enabled HDTVs with other complementary products, which is taking a lot of the cost and mystery out of trying out this new technology. If you buy select 3D TVs, you can usually get anything from free 3D glasses, Blu-ray 3D movies, a Blu-ray 3D player, or all three. Since many bundle deals are usually going at once, it can get confusing. Take a peek below for a listing of the current 3D TV bundles being offered.

Panasonic

Panasonic is currently luring customers with great 3D TV deals, as well as the biggest movie of all time. The long-awaited Blu-ray 3D for Avatar is included in the manufacturer's Ultimate 3D starter kit, which also has two pairs of the newer rechargeable 3D glasses. Details for each deal do vary.

Amazon is offering a $400 credit, when you buy Panasonic's 54-inch VIERA TC-P54VT25 plasma, as well as Panasonic's DMP-BDT100 Blu-ray 3D player and the Avatar Ultimate 3D Starter Kit. This offer is good through February 26, 2011 or while supplies last. At last look, the TV was priced at $2,181.58. Amazon pricing does change, so check you shopping cart for exact pricing. You will need to add the TV, the Blu-ray 3D player, and the starter kit into your shopping cart. The $400 credit will appear in your cart during checkout:

Both Amazon and OneCall currently have Panasonic 3D TV promotions, which includes Avatar on Blu-ray 3D.

If you already have the Blu-ray 3D player, OneCall is offering the Blu-ray 3D of Avatar with the purchase of Panasonic's top-of-the-line VT25 Series. Choose between 50-, 54-, and 58-inch sizes, and you can get the disc via a mail-in rebate. This offer is good from now through January 28, 2011. Check out the models and prices here:

Sony

Other manufactures have good deals as well. Amazon is offering a Sony 3D Starter Kit with the purchase of Sony's 60-inch KDL60NX810 LED. This set features a 1080p picture, four HDMI inputs, and built-in Wi-Fi. That wireless access allows viewers to easily tap into networking features offered through BRAVIA Internet video and widgets. That means you'll enjoy Netflix, YouTube, Slacker and other services, right from your remote.

The starter kit prepares you for 3D viewing, with two pairs of 3D glasses, Sony's 3D Sync Transmitter, an HDMI cable, and a Blu-ray 3D copy of Alice in Wonderland. This offer is only good through February 5, 2011, so you'd better click quickly! Check out the deal details here:

If you want something a little smaller, Amazon will throw in that starter kit and a PlayStation 3 with the purchase of one of the 46- or 55-inch NX810 models. That PS3 can do Blu-ray 3D, 3D gaming, and even stream the newly launched VUDU 3D service. This offer is good through February 5, 2011 or until the retailer runs out of stock. If you already have the PS3, you probably don't need another. However, one thing you could always use are a few extra pairs of 3D glasses. Amazon has yet another Sony bundle, offering two sets of 3D glasses and the 3D sync transmitter with the purchase of a Sony 46- or 55-inch HX800 LED 3D TV. Choose between adult or kid-sized glasses -- in blue or pink! This offer is good through January 22, 2011. Find out more on Amazon's main offer page:

OneCall also has its own bundle package, offering a free Sony 3D Starter Kit with the purchase of one of five different LED 3D TVs. There are 46-, 52- and 60-inch sizes from Sony's NX810 Series, as well as 46- and 52-inchers from the HX909 Series. The latter includes the 1080p image, a 240Hz refresh rate, and Intelligent Dynamic LED backlight. Both sets are also ready for Wi-Fi, via an add-on adapter. If you don't have the option to network your HDTV nearby, this could be crucial, since these sets also include BRAVIA Internet Video access. Find out more about these bundles on OneCall's website:

Samsung

OneCall is offering a bunch of freebies to those buying one of 13 different Samsung 3D TVs. Choose between plasma or LED, in sizes ranging from 40 to 63 inches. With that purchase, you'll get Samsung's BD-C5900 Blu-ray player and the Shrek 3D Starter Kit. The kit includes two pairs of 3D glasses, and the first three Shrek movies, which have all been remastered for Blu-ray 3D. Aside from those goodies, you'll also get a coupon for a free Blu-ray 3D of Shrek Forever After, via a mail-in rebate. Just add a qualifying TV to your cart, and you'll get all of the goodies as well. This offer is good on purchases made between December 5, 2010 and February 5, 2011, or until the retailer runs out of stock. Find out more at OneCall:

LG

While the current LG bundle does not include a Blu-ray 3D player or movies, it does include four pairs of active 3D glasses, which means a whole lot less fighting over glasses when the 3D movie starts. It also includes a super-low price on LG's 55LX6500 3D LED Plus HDTV. This 1080p set includes TruMotion 240Hz technology and LED Plus technology with basic local dimming capability of up to 16 addressable segments. From now through January 29, 2011, you can get four free pairs of glasses (MSRP: $719.96 for the four pairs of glasses alone). Just be sure to adjust the quantity in your shopping cart from 1 to 4 on the glasses so you get the best value. Find out more here:

Keep in mind that many of the bundles above require you to add multiple items into your shopping cart. Then, discounts will be reflected before your final checkout as a promotional discount in your shopping cart. Amazon's deals are also only good on purchases made directly through Amazon (with Amazon.com as the seller), and not any of its third-party merchants. Bundles and sale prices are usually only good while supplies last, so make sure to check the details of each deal before you make your final purchase.
