Chinese TV Maker Hisense Launches new Ultra HD LED/LCD TV Line in Times Square

By Rachel Cericola

Companies are dropping 4K TV prices in order to get the technology out to the masses. Hisense is looking to compete, with the newly announced 4K ULED H10 Series Curved Smart TV.

The company debuted a 65-incher for the H10 Series at an event at the Edison Ballroom in New York City earlier this week. The latest 4K TV is actually a ULED TV, which basically means, well... it's a 4K TV. It's designed to compete with OLED, SUHD and every other letter in the alphabet. However, the real hook on this TV is that it's priced at a mere $2,999.99.

Despite the low cost, Hisense is promising all of the 4K perks, including a 3840x2160 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Curved 4K ULED TV also boasts backlight control technology with brightness control across 240 zones versus the entire display. Another interesting option is "smart peaking," which is designed to deliver a better black-to-black response time and boost the brightness in those individual zones.

This upcoming model also has dark field image enhancement and 3M Quantum Dot Enhancement Film (QDEF) technology. The latter doesn't just mean more colors on-screen, but more accurate colors as well.

Of course, having that curved screen allows viewers to get wrapped up in the image -- at almost any angle. Other features include Octa-core processing, a quad-core CPU and GPU, built-in WiFi, four HDMI inputs, and three USB ports. The H10 Series also has Total Technology from dbx-tv to boost the TV's sound.

In addition to the TV's price and other perks, Hisense reps spent time at the event pointing out the company's recent Sharp acquisition, which allows it to increase production in North America. According to the HD Guru, Hisense has the rights to all things Aquos and could be slapping the Sharp name on higher-quality products. However, right now, it's sort of up in the air, since the focus is on ULED.

"At Hisense we are constantly pushing ourselves to develop new and innovative technology in order to keep our products in the forefront of an ever changing world," said Dr. Lin Lan, EVP of Hisense Group and general manager of Hisense International Co., Ltd. "We are proud to showcase our Curved 4K ULED TV and believe that it will bring our customers the superior quality they want at an affordable price."

Hisense is taking pre-orders for the 65-inch 4K ULED H10 Series Curved Smart TV, with plans to ship in October. There will also be a 55-inch H9 model that does not have quantum-dot technology, priced at $1,299.99.
