California Town Declares July 1 DTS 7.1 Day

By Rachel Cericola

The year is flying by, which is probably why we forgot about DTS 7.1 Day. We didn’t send out cards, flowers or tiny computer chips to anyone!

In case your calendar doesn't speak geek, yesterday (July 1) was actually DTS 7.1 Day in California. Agoura Hills Mayor Denis Weber issued a proclamation yesterday, celebrating the magic that is DTS. The news was in honor of DTS and its 7.1 surround sound audio technology.

California State Assemblywoman Julia Brownley also offered well wishes and took the time to issue a Certificate of Recognition for DTS' "dedication to delivering unparalleled sound quality to audiences around the world" and honoring DTS' "stimulus for job creation for over 18 years." How awesome is that (not to mention, a little bizarre)?

Of course, no celebration would be complete without an appearance from Fred Willard. The actor/comedian has been recruited to star in a series of DTS videos, which will air all month long on DTS' Celebrate 7.1 website.
