3D TV: Cablevision and MSG to Broadcast Islanders/Rangers Hockey Game in 3D

By Chris Boylan

What's better than a little local rivalry between two popular hockey teams?  How about watching that rivalry unfold in 3-D right in your own living room?   Cablevision sent out a special offer to their "Optimum Rewards" customers today: the chance to watch the March 24 game between the New York Islanders and New York Rangers in 3D at home, or even at Madison Square Garden.  This will be the first live NHL hockey game broadcast to consumers' homes in 3D.

The "Watch at home" offer can only be enjoyed by Cablevision customers who have purchased one of the brand new 3D TV models, such as those from Samsung or Panasonic, which began shipping this month, and only for those with the Scientific Atlanta HD cable box which will apparently be 3D-ready in time for the big game.  Optimum Rewards customers are also getting the chance to purchase up to 8 tickets to the live event itself, which will feature in-house 3D TV display systems inside The Theater showing the live broadcast.

The game is being presented in 3D by the MSG HD network and Real D.  The broadcast itself will be available on a special new 3D channel, available to Cablevision subscribers with the necessary equipment and a subscription to MSG HD.

Details of the offer for Optimum Rewards customers are available at: www.optimumrewards.com/offer

Details on MSG's 3D offerings are available at www.msg.com/3D.

Live event tickets are subject to availability and will most likely sell out quickly.
