Home theater systems come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Thankfully, there are speakers to match just about every solution these days -- all without having to sacrifice sound quality.
Atlantic Technology has just introduced a pair of sonically matched speaker solutions. Both products use the same tweeters, woofers, and acoustic topologies, although they have very different packaging.
The first is the Atlantic Technology FS3 Front Stage Loudspeaker, which packs three LCR (left-center-right) front-channel speakers into a 42-inch long black enclosure with a 4.75-by-3-inch deep cross section. All three speakers in this soundbar-style solution have two 3.5-inch CPP (Composite Polypropylene/Paper) woofers and a 0.75-inch silk-dome tweeter. Other features include a 100Hz-20kHz (+/- 3dB) frequency response, 6 ohms impedance, and a sensitivity rating of 88dB. Also worth mentioning is that the FS3 can be wall-mounted, but also feature sbinding posts that can accept heavy gauge wire. (There's even the optional Shelf-2405 kit that can mount the speaker on top of the TV.)
The Atlantic Technology LCR3 is slightly easier to place, since it's smaller and can be mounted with stands or on shelves either vertically or horizontally. The company says that even though this model is more compact, it has all of the same "DNA" as the FS3. The two-way speaker has two long-throw 3.5-inch CPP woofers and the 0.75-inch silk-dome tweeter. It also has the same specs as the larger model listed above, along with the same binding posts. It even has two dual-direction keyhole mounting brackets and a 0.25-inch threaded mounting plate for use with speaker stands.
"Both the LCR3 and FS3 represent our best thinking for the newest AV technologies," said Peter Tribeman, Atlantic Technology's president and founder. "Elegant in design and compact in size, these new speakers represent an ideal match to this year's newest generation of moderately priced AV receivers. Among other things we paid special attention to precision timbre matching so that our '3 series' excels in reproducing a smooth coherent soundfield with all channels."
Atlantic Technology is selling the FS3 in black now, with an MSRP of $650. Available in gloss black or white, the LCR3 is also selling, priced at $275 each.
