Tesla Deals: Save $500 on Model Y, Model 3; $1,000 on Model S, Model X

By Chris Boylan

While Tesla just announced record global car production and deliveries in Q2, 2023, the company seems to be committed to keeping that growth going with new discounts and offers on all four of its current car models. Carrying over from June, Tesla is offering a $1,000 instant discount on any new Model S or Model X. New this week is a $500 instant discount on any Model 3 or Model Y. Tesla is also offering a 3 month free trial of FSD (Full Self-Driving) with any new car purchase.

In order to get the discount and the FSD trial, you will need a Tesla referral code. If you're an existing Tesla customer, you can find your own referral code and link in the Loot Box of your Tesla app. If you have a friend or family member who owns a Tesla, ask them for their referral code or referral link.

If you need a Tesla referral code, feel free to use ours below (the referral code is embedded in the link):

If ordering in a Tesla store, over the phone or via chat, then use this code in order to qualify for the discounts -- Tesla Referral Code: kevin51692.

In July, Tesla started offering a $500 instant discount on any new Model 3 or Model Y.

While $500-$1,000 of instant savings is nothing to shake a stick at, you can usually save even more if you opt to buy a car from a local Tesla store's existing inventory. Recently we've seen discounts of up to $3500 on in-stock Model 3s, and discounts of $5,000 to $8,000 on select inventory Model S and Model X cars. Most inventory cars still count as new as far as warranty goes. And if you buy a Model 3 or Model Y from inventory, it still qualifies for the full $7,500 federal tax credit in the United States, as well as any additional state and local incentives.

During the checkout process, you should see a screen like this to confirm that the referral discount has been applied to your order.

Buying an inventory car also allows you to take delivery much quicker than waiting for a custom order, and you can still check out the fit and finish of the exact car you'll be buying before you have to commit to the purchase. If you can't find the exact options you're looking for, you can expand the scope of your search or pay a bit more for a custom order.

FSD: All Hype or The Next Big Thing?

The three month free trial of Full Self-Driving will allow you to see what all the hype is about. With FSD, a Tesla can practically drive itself from origin to destination, including navigating through complex intersections, entering and exiting from highways and changing lanes to pass slower cars. FSD is still in beta however and requires that you have your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road in case you need to take over. Sensors in the steering wheel and the in-cabin camera will trigger audible and visible warnings if you remove your hands from the wheel or your eyes wander too far for too long. If those warnings are unheeded, FSD will be disabled and the car will be slowed to a stop with hazard lights flashing.

I've been beta testing FSD for more than two years and find that it works well in most driving conditions and is getting better with each new release. It definitely takes the stress out of long drives, with cameras facing in all directions and an advanced AI helper at the wheel that learns from millions of real world driving scenarios. A self-driving future is inevitable and Tesla's FSD is one of the most advanced solutions of its kind.

Referral discounts are now available on all four Tesla cars: Model S, Model 3, Model X and Model Y.

But even without AutoPilot or FSD, Tesla makes cars that are fun to drive, economical to run and maintain and better for the environment to boot. These are just a few of the reasons why the Tesla Model Y was the top selling car model in the world in the first quarter of this year.

Tesla has not announced any expiration dates on its current offers but inventory discounts can vary from day to day. So if you see the price you want on an inventory Tesla with the specs you're looking for, you might want to snag it while the price is right.
