UST Price Drop: Save $1500 on Hisense 100L5G 4K Projector

By Chris Boylan

Looking for a big screen TV without the big price tag? ProjectorScreen.com just dropped the price of the popular Hisense UST projector, the 100L5G all the way from $3,999 to $2,497.97 - a $1,500 price drop. The price includes a 100-inch ALR (Ambient Light Rejecting) screen from DaLite as part of the deal.

Also known as a "Laser TV," a UST projector provides the big screen size benefits of a projector without the space requirements and complicated installation. Instead of needing 10-15 feet of space from the projector to the screen, a UST projector like the Hisense 100L5G can be placed just inches from the screen. In the case of the 100L5G, it needs 14.3 inches, to be precise. This allows you to place it on a stand, shelf or credenza at the front of the room, right where your other gear is like streaming boxes, gaming consoles, maybe an A/V receiver. This eliminates the need for wires running in or along the walls, floors and ceiling.

The included 100-inch screen from DaLite accentuates the projector's performance in bright rooms. It features ALR (Ambient Light Rejection) technology to absorb room lighting, allowing viewers to concentrate on the on-screen action. This type of screen makes it possible to enjoys movies, TV shows, sporting events and games without having to turn the lights all the way down.

UST projectors like the Hisense 100L5G can create a 100-inch diagonal image placed just a few inches from the wall.

If you're looking for something even larger, the 120-inch version (Hisense 120L5G) has been dropped the same amount, from $4,499 to $2997.97. That one comes with a 120-inch Cinema ALR screen. Other than the screen sizes, the two UST projectors are virtually identical.

Both versions feature a laser light engine, estimated to last at least 25,000 hours, 2,700 ANSI Lumens of peak brightness, 4K Ultra HD resolution and HDR 10 High Dynamic Range support. Both also are built on the Android TV platform. This gives you access to the Google Play Store, with hundreds of audio and video streaming apps as well as cloud-based gaming.

For those worried about even bigger, better deals coming later in the season, ProjectorScreen.com announced that they are offering price protection from now until Black Friday. If the price does go down at any point between now and then, just let them know and they'll credit you the difference. This allows you to buy now, enjoy the projector longer and not worry about it running out of stock during the holiday shopping frenzy.

The Hisense 100L5G took second place in this year's Laser TV Showdown, just 0.25 points behind the BenQ V7050i UST projector which currently sells for $500 more, and does not include a screen. In the competition, the Hisense projector excelled at contrast and shadow detail, earning a 10 out of 10 in both categories. It also scored highly for color accuracy, golor gamut and motion reproduction. It may be one of the least expensive brand name UST projectors for sale today, but its performance is anything but "low budget."
