The Bose Quiet Comfort series uses active noise cancellation technology to dull the outside roar of an airplane engine or subway train down to a soft murmur, so you can hear the music over the noise, and hear every last detail. The ones on sale today are the wired QuietComfort 25. They are compatible with virtually any mobile phone or portable media player with a headphone jack and can be used on newer iPhones with an inexpensive adapter (more on that below).
Be sure to order the headphone version that is compatible with your phone so you'll be able to control volume and playback as well as take calls right from the built-in control on the headphone cable itself. The cord also has a built-in microphone for audio or video calls (e.g. FaceTime)
