Paradigm Starts Shipping Soundtrack Soundbar System

By Rachel Cericola

Paradigm Electronics has been cranking out big sound for years. Now, they're going to do it via a much more compact package. The company just announced its new Soundtrack System.

As part of Paradigm's Shift series, the Soundtrack is a package with a 6-driver soundbar and a wireless subwoofer. Just mount it (or place it) and you're ready to rock -- hard. Paradigm promises that this compact setup will bring better audio to the soundbar category, with a wide soundstage with superb stereo separation.

The soundbar has two 4.5-inch bass midrange drivers, two 4-inch passive radiators, and two high-frequency drivers with 1-inch satin-anodized pure-aluminum dome tweeters. Paradigm says that all driver complements are separated within the cabinet (left and right), for sonic clarity and channel separation.

The speaker is slick and simple, with controls for power, volume and synching the subwoofer to the soundbar. Around the back, it has digital optical and analog stereo inputs. Paradigm has also included a remote control. However, you can use your own, thanks to the system's IR learning features.

Rounding out the package is a dual-ported subwoofer with an 8-inch laminated composite cone driver with a 1.5-inch high-temperature aluminum-wire voice coil. Other features include DSP signal processing engine and a Class-D amplifier for 100 watts RMS sustained and 300 watts dynamic peak power. Also worth noting is that the sub can be used wirelessly for easy placement, but there's also a wired option.

"When it comes to value-oriented all-in-one audio solutions, the Soundtrack System is a winner," said Mark Aling, senior director of marketing for Paradigm Electronics. "This is not your typical soundbar. It offers a high level of performance in the most placement-friendly format we've ever created. One of the most exciting aspects is the built-in receiver. Whether it's your primary sound system or a second system, you're going to experience sound with superb stereo separation and more dynamic range than anything else in this price range. It's an ideal solution for people who want a great-sounding system without any requirement for additional electronics."

Paradigm is selling the Soundtrack System now, via select dealers. Available in a black finish, the package is priced at $799.99.
