Sony Creative Software announced today the availability of their new professional multi-codec video encoding tool for Blu-ray Disc authoring. The BAE-VX1000 software, developed by Sony Electronics and Sony Pictures Entertainment, supports the H.264 AVC and MPEG-2 video codecs and is designed to either run on a single PC for real-time AVC encoding or to be scaled to a networked distributed processing configuration.

The BAE-VX1000 is compatible with 64-bit versions of Microsoft's Vista, XP, and Windows Server 2003 operating systems and is priced at $55,000 US, making it an affordable solution for smaller, independent studios and production houses.
