If the sound will be equal or better I will be happy, I would rather not spend the extra $100+ to get the BD55.
    Hi,

Your question was already answered in detail two weeks ago in post number 23.

    Regards.

In theory the the Samsung P2500 with its HQV chipset should yield better upconversion than the BD35/55. The excellent review for the BD55 on this site indicates that the upconversion is very good.

So question is: how much better will the P2500 be? Any thoughts on how the players would compare to the Tosh A30 (Anchor Bay ABT1018).

    Thanks in advance.

I reviewed the HD-A35 and wasn't that impressed with its upconversion. I think the A30 and A35 use the same chip set. I have the 2500 in for review right now so check the site in a few days to see how it rates. Unfortunately the HQV processing is *NOT* used for the Netflix content but it is (of course) for the DVDs.

    Update: BD-P2500 review is live.

I have a question about this.

Is it possible to have full hd audio if i let decode DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD soundtracks to PCM and connect it to my receiver with HDMI?

I have a marantz SR6001 which has HDMI but cannot decode HD formats.

Yes, as long as your receiver supports HDMI 1.1 and above *WITH* Multi-channel PCM audio decoding onboard, then you can use the BD35, BD55, BD60 or BD80 in PCM mode to send the full uncompressed multi-channel PCM signal to your receiver for conversion to analog. Just set DTS-HD and Dolby to "PCM" and set BD-Secondary Audio to OFF. This way you get the full quality and benefits of lossless audio decoding, but without having to do the lossless decoding in the receiver.
