Non-Copyrighted Blu-Ray Disks
I didn't see a previous thread on this - I use Adobe Premiere Pro and Encore to make DVD's and now I'm trying to include Blu-Ray. Our cameras make 1920x1080i videos so it would be nice for customers to see themselves in HD.
But alas, my Sharp Blu-Ray player won't play them. Doing research someone on a forum said that Sharp made a conscious decision to preclude non-copyrighted Blu-Ray disks from playing, and that many other players won't play them either. They also said that Sony is encouraging everyone to hi-jack Blu-Ray to play ONLY copyrighted hollywood movies and not play any home-made or video studeo-made material.
Someone else said that the Blu-Ray spec-setting organization does have a provision in the Blu-Ray spec for manufacturers to permit non-copyrighted disks, but of course Sony is discouraging mfgr's from doing so.
However, one wedding client said my Blu-Ray product plays fine on his PSP 3.
So what gives? What is the truth about players and non-copyrighted disks? Where can I go to find out exactly which players will play my Blu-Ray products and which won't. I'd like to be able to ask someone what player they have and then be able to tell them yes or no.
