    BD1250 & DivX

    Hi,

I just recently purchased and setup the Samsung B1250. Everything works great and the PC Streaming works fine as well (WiFi).

The only problem I have is that regardless of whether I'm attempting to stream or play a DivX movie from a DVD-R I encounter the same error: "No program is found".

Music & Pics work fine, just Video fails every time with the error above.

    Help?!

Edit: Forgot to mention that when selecting 'Video' no folders appear either whereas the other options (Music & Photo), do display folders regardless of their contents.

It almost seems like the video player software is missing completely.

    Thanks!

Do your files have a file type (extension) of AVI or DIVX and are they Divx 5 or lower?

I've tried both .avi and .divx extensions.

I've also converted the files to DivX 5 (they were XviD), which results in the same "No program is found" error.

The video files don't even appear in the folder at all.

I don't believe it's an file extension or codec issue since browsing folders works fine through 'Music' and 'Pictures' regardless of their contents, whereas the folders don't even appear when selecting 'Video'.

    Samsung Support

More info: I tried calling Samsung support and I'm sorry I did. She was very nice but my issue was beyond her knowledgebase.

She was convinced it was a network issue despite my insistance that both Music and Pictures work perfectly through the network.

What threw her for a loop was the fact I'm using the Samsung WiFi Adapter despite the fact it's not sold in Canada.

She suggested I call back on Monday when their Level 2 Support is open.

I really don't know what else to do at this point.

Well trying putting the file on a USB flash memory drive (not an external USB drive but a USB memory stick) and see if that works. But honestly it sounds like a bug. I've used Xvid and Divx files on USB with no problems on the BD-P3600.

Have you confirmed in the manual that Divx is supported on the BD1250? It should be but it never hurts to check.

I'll try the USB and let you know. I had thought of trying that as well however had problems finding my 1GB stick.

In regards to whether the BD1250 supports DivX or not, both Samsung's website and the manual promote the fact it does:

    Thanks!

    No go

USB didn't work. Music and Pictures work fine once again (eg: folders are displayed regardless of content within each).

I don't even have any videos in the root folder.

I'm convinced that my unit has been loaded with firmware that is missing the DivX video player/codec.

Hopefully Samsung Level 2 support will have a solution for me on Monday, such as sending me a CD that will allow me to flash the firmware.

    ARGH

I confirmed with someone at Samsung that Divx is not working properly on the BD1250. I will post more when I find out more but he's going to get in touch with the engineers about it. Hang tight and hopefully they will be able to figure out what's going on.

    Thanks

    Thanks for letting me know.

I had re-contacted Samsung on Monday morning and they have agreed to have the unit shipped to Mississauga for repair, but since it's an engineering issue I'll hold off on sending it in since it's will be futile to do so.

    Thanks!

Hopefully the issue will be resolved very soon.

Well Samsung Korea's response to my guy at Samsung USA is that Divx is not supported on the US models of the BD1250 HTiB, and I guess that this is confirmed on the US web site. As to why it doesn't work on your model purchased in Canada, unfortunately you will need to pursue this directly with Samsung in Canada (and you may need to ship it to them for repair). I've seen multiple errors on the Samsung site in the past on similar products (like the AS730 being listed as wireless-rear-speaker-enabled, and not supporting DTS-HD decoding, neither of which is true). But this isn't unique to Samsung. Panasonic also had Divx listed as supported on their BD60 but in reality (in the US market) that support is only in the step-up BD80 model. They have since fixed the Web site.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help and please do post an update with the resolution if you can, for the benefit of other Canadian owners of the BD1250.
