Does anyone use this hookup? Or does anyone know if it works? I have a Linksys wireless router and want to hook up my BD player to my network. I have an I-Mac and also want to use airtunes to my stereo.

Not sure. You might want to check out the Airport Express FAQ:
AirPort Express frequently asked questions (FAQ)
It's a little confusing. The FAQ says it *cannot* extend the network of a third-party access point, but it can wirelessly extend the range of a WDS network that is being hosted by an AirPort Extreme Base Station or another AirPort Express.
Then it says that if you configure the Airport Express as a WDS remote or relay station, it can bridge a wireless network to wired clients, which is what you want to do.
There's nothing special about the BD55 - it's a standard wired network client. So if your Airport Express can be used as a bridge between the Linksys router and other wired clients (e.g., an IBM PC with a wired network connection) then it should work with the BD55 too. The only question is whether it's fully compatible with a third party wireless router (the Linksys).
Your best bet is probably to contact Apple support or ask on an Apple forum whether the Airport Express is compatible with 3rd party routers to act as a wireless bridge to wired network devices.
