Something is not clear for me with DMP-BD60 I've bought.
I am looking at the Component Video Resolution in Setup -> TV/Device Connection and I am seeing 1080i. My TV supports 1080p also the cable should be good enough because is my XBox HDMI cable.
So the question is : Why I do not see there 1080p and I see 1080i ?
How can I check if the transmission is 1080p for A/V? ( I have BD60 not BD80).
There are other questions in mind but they are not so important :
Will Panasonic implement NetFlix through VIERA ? There are 2 gray boxes "Coming soon" on the Network screen...what are these ?
Thanks,
Dan
OK. I'm confused. You say you are asking about component video resolution but then you mention an HDMI cable. The BD60 and BD80, like most Blu-ray players, limit the component video output to 1080i. This is not necessarily a liimit on the capabilities of component video but it is done for content protection. To get 1080p output from Blu-ray Disc (and to get anything above 480p outout from DVD), you need to use an HDMI cable. Are you using an HDMI cable or a component video cable?
As for the other question, The "coming soon" area for VIERA Cast is for future content providers. VIERA Cast could support Netflix at some point in the future but this has not been announced yet so we can't assume that Netflix support is coming.

High Clarity Audio works by disabling the analog video circuitry if you don't need it (not using any of the analog video outputs). Theoretically this actually can improve sound over both analog and digital audio outputs by eliminating interference with the on-board DAC. The digital output *can* be impacted with higher jitter if the player is doing the decoding from DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD to multi-channel L-PCM.
I personally didn't do too much listening with High Clarity Audio on vs. off so I can't tell you whether the analog or PCM digital outputs are audibly better with High Clarity Audio engaged, but I'm sure there's someone out there who has played around with this feature.

Just commenting on my own post here. At CES, Panasonic announced that they will support Netflix (among other things) in the next version of VIERA Cast, but the engineers tell me they were not able to retrofit this into the current generation players. So those who want Netflix on a Panasonic player will need to buy the DMP-BD65, DMP-BD85 or DMP-BDT350 (2010 models).
