Hi, I am newly registered and this is my first post. Does anyone have an opinion on the Panasonic BD70KV?
It is the same machine as the BD60K with a built-in VHS player that
upconverts the VHS to 1080P

You are correct!
I just ordered the BD-80.
60, 70, and 80, are all great units!
I was last in Ashville about 40 years ago.
Asheville is beautiful...as I remember it, Sacramento wasn't quite as beautiful.
I've been holding off on buying a blu-ray player and when a friend saw my
many vhs tapes, he suggested the BD70KV....should I use a shopping link
on this site to order?
Hi, Thanks for responding. I've been all over the Smokey Mountains when my kids were growing up.
Yes, you'll probbabley get the best price on the Amazon link.
Click on the "Shop with us" link near the top right of your screen, then click on Amazon. Enjoy!![]()
Yep. I saw one "in the flesh" at a press event a few weeks ago and I have to say I've never seen VHS tapes look so good. You can read more about it here:
Panasonic's DMP-BD70V Blu-ray/VHS Deck: Videotape Goes 1080p for HDTV: BigPictureBigSound
It hasn't shown up yet on Amazon or any of our preferred affiliate partners except J&R, but it's not discounted off its list price ($399). I *think* it will differ from the BD60 in that the BD70V *may* include Divx support on the USB port like the BD80 does (this is not confirmed yet). But otherwise it's pretty much identical to a BD60 plus the VHS playback deck (and it is playback only, by the way, no recording even on the VHS side).
Be patient and wait for it to show up on a few sites before ordering it. After a couple of weeks in general availability you'll start to see the "real" market price which should be discounted at least 10% to 15% off the list.
Good luck and welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the welcome and the link to your article. What do you know about
"Provantage"? Their price will be $297 as opposed to J&R $399...are
they a company you've dealt with before?
I'm "CHIMING IN"!
Yes, that is true. Provantage's price does not include shipping and they are slow.
I ordered mine through a link found here on the forum and it is due according to UPS Tracking, here on Thursday the 9th. Provantage would not even be shipping until the end of the month.
