    hdmi problems

Hi all , having a few problems with hdmi connection that being , I am running my panasonic dmp-bd10a blu ray through my onkyo tx-sr674 amp into a phillips 32inch lcd via hdmi but I am not getting any picture and after approx 10 seconds of playing time i receive error code u73 (connected equipment not compatible as per user manual )on my blu ray player screen and it stops playing . I have also tried my panasonic dvd recorder and tried different hdmi leads but get the same outcome . Has any one had these issues running this equipment or have any ideas .
    cheers david

Have you tried connecting the players directly to the TV?
Have you tried another HDMI cable?

The U73 typically means an HDMI/HDCP handshake issue so some component in the chain is not playing nice from an HDCP perspective (HDCP is the content security layer of the HDMI interface).

Try powering everything off. Then power up the TV first, wait a few seconds, make sure it is on the right input, then power up the receiver, wait a few seconds, make sure it is on the right input, then power up the player.

    Same behavior or different?

Had it been operating OK, or is this a first time hook up?

OK. Let us know if it helps to change the power up sequence. Some people who have this type of problem (usually with older HDMI components) program in the start-up sequence (with delays) into a universal remote so everything always powers up in the right order. But if it still doesn't work even powering up in that order, then unfortunately the only solution would be to change one of your components (most likely the receiver) or change the way it's hooked up, which will sacrifice either the image or sound quality.

You could try an HDMI signal splitter (one input, two outputs), so that both the receiver and the TV are getting a "direct" signal, but I can't guarantee this would work either as the handshake would be even more complicated with two input devices receiving the same HDMI output.

There's also a really slight chance that disabling the Onkyo's on-screen menu in its set-up might work around the problem. I've seen an issue with 24p output on Samsung Blu-ray players not producing an image when routed through an Onkyo/Integra preamp/processor, and turning off the Onkyo's on-screen menu worked around the problem.

    Good luck!
