Thread: How to Get PC Streaming to Work on Samsung BD-P3600/BD-P4600

  1. #71

    Default

First I want to say dont give up.
Because when it worked the Samsung 3600 is a formidable machine.
Great picture, great sound with DVD, blueray,DIVX on pc streaming !
Your old DVD will take a new life with hdmi connection !
Did you know that you could also read XVID file perfectly.
It's good considering that the XVID codec and software are free
    DIVX are not.
In fact all my sharing files are XVID files.
It took me 3 days to get it working until I found this forum.

    Here is my profile:
    -Windows vista home 32bits (SP-2)
    windows firewall OFF
    -Norton 360 V3 (Firewall ON)
-Dlink router DIR-655 firmware 1.11 (firewall ON)
Router security is "WPA2 Only" Cipher: "AES"
Wich is what dlink recommended to achieve better wireless performance.
    -Samsung BD-P3600 connected by wifi
    System information in 3600 parameters:
    S/W: BEv1.02_090204_XAC
    Loader: LDv1.11_090221__
    Region: A/1 (BD/DVD)
-Sharing of many folders not only on root c:
but also on other drives and other pc.

Here is what worked for this profile:

1- Go to the "Network sharing center" in the section "Sharing and discovery".
Make sure thoses items are ON:
    -Network discovery
    -File sharing
    -Public folder sharing
    -Media sharing
    This one must be OFF:
    -Password protected sharing
I think this option appear with Vista SP1...
I did tried to let it ON but I got stuck with the infamous User/password invalid message
whatever user I tried Administrator, A, Guest and others...

2- Right click on the folder you want to share.
In the sharing tab share your folder to "Everyone" full access first (when it worked you could lower access to read only).
IN the security tab make sure "Everyone" is there with full access also.
(For more info on this see MrBoylan first post of this thread "Pc Connection Instructions").

With this I can access all my share folders with auto discovery without user/password.

    Note:
I got 3 pc on my network 2 wifi and 1 wired all with the same above profile,
with the above setting I access all the wifi share folders in auto mode but the wired pc I can not...?
I can only access it by manuel mode with user/password... I dont know why...?

Please let me know if it worked for you.

OK I made the mistake of calling Samsung support

they have a new Firmware out.....1.03.. like a fool I installed it as directed to.

Now I can only see the first system IP address (lowest IP address) on my network when doing Auto Mode, Manual mode shows no shares on any PC, sigh...

I could see all my shared PCs before but could not connect to any shares (Ver 1.02)

The tech told me that they are getting multiple cases on this issue and they are working to get out a new Firmware...

What a waste of time it has been..

I sure hope they get it out quick.

After your upgrade did you tried a reset of the 3600 ?

Resetting the player will revert all settings back to factory default which means you will have to reconfigure your network settings.

1.Turn the player on and with no disc in the player, press and hold the FF button on the front panel until the player turns off.
2.Follow the instructions for language selection.

    Maybe it's something to try...

I dont know what to say to you...

May be you could try the new firmware 1.03 followed by
    a reset of the p3600...

Or before the upgrade close all your firewall and do just a reset of p3600
    and reconfigure the p3600 network...

Reset it but did not change anything.

    Thanks for your help.

But nobody can't answer the question of why the P3600 always says the user name and password is incorrect?????

This is all we need to get past!!

    Baffling... I dont understand...

Because I was stuck there also for days and for me the main source was the firewall...

I dont know maybe there a batch of bad P3600 out there...
Get it back to the store and try an other one...

    Default Firmware 1.03 remember ip/folder/user/password

Just found this in a avsforum.

    "It remembers...
Just updated firmware. Manual search seems to remember entries(IP/folder/username/password) from the last search. Cycled power a couple of times, info still there."
