That helps a LOT thank you.

As much as I hate to do it I am thinking I am going to stick with the 1600. While the USB option is appealing and my opinion may change tommorrow. If they fix the issue with the streaming I would be more willing to upgrade.

Thanks again.

Well I have to assume that some people are able to get the "Auto" setting to work (the player will find any available shared folders without having to specify the IP address directly) so this is no an "across the board" kind of problem. And one clever poster here on the forum (Dr Coolz) set up a share name of "A" with a userid and password of A, so he is able to reconnect pretty quickly without a lot of typing.

Considering that the BD-P3600 comes standard with the Wifi dongle (it's an $80 option for the BD-P1600), and it offers PC network streaming, multi-channel analog output and faster disc loading and operation than the BD-P1600, I'd say the 3600 is still a safe pick. It's likely that they'll work the kinks out of this feature over time.

Default Windows XP Tip for PC Streaming from Samsung BD-P3600

I spent quite a lot of time today trying to get streaming to my PC. First, the player seems to be quite random in finding a networked PC. That said, I've discovered a couple of things:

1. To avoid getting the frustrating "Incorrect user name or password" message, try shutting your firewall. I have Norton and stopping the firewall and anti-virus checking allowed me to get into the computer from the player.

2. I set up a shared folder on the desktop and that worked well. So, I guess it's not necessary to use the Shared Documents folder in My Computer.

3. It was able to view jpeg and mp3 files, but not mpeg files. It appears that indeed video may be restricted to DivX encoding.

Hi I'm new!
I've been searching everywhere to find out why my bdp3600 isn't connecting to pc but couldn't find it until now.

Anyway, there seem to be a lot of people who can't get username/pw to work, but my problem is that after my Blu ray connects to my pc wirelessly, it won't see any of the music, video or pictures that I'm sharing on my network. I've tried placing them in so many different shared folders and nothing works.

Shared Documents has a few things in there, but whichever tab I look in, the blu ray says "no program is found." Leading me to believe that I don't have something installed, but then again, there was no documentation that says I need to install something, nor was a cd included with the player. Any ideas?

Unhappy DivX streaming over WiFi, stuck around 1:20 of playback

Hello,
I am using P-3600 for a months now. WIFI connection was simple.
My share is NAS which runs on Linux (500 Gb of NAS manufacture LaCie). 3600 even finds it when auto scanning, but can't find any share even with password.
So I had to connect manually and go through this pain every time. But that proofs that you can connect to any network share with manual connection option.

But my question next:
Have you tried streaming full Divx movie over WiFi. Not just couple minutes test.
All my movies get stuck in between 1h 13m to 1h 20min of play time.
When I copy it to USB it works no problem. This makes it impossible to use this for any streaming. Looks like they have memory leak in WiFi module.

Also when playing some Mp3 P-3600 just jumps to next song after playing it for 1 min or so, some plays just fine.

This player has a lot of potential, but these problems very annoing.
We need Firmware upgrade!!!
I am in Canada.

It does not show "Any" documents, only files with specific extensions: .jpg, .avi, .mp3 and only when you go in dedicated section like Video, Music etc.

I haven't specifically seen the lock-up one hour into a Divx movie, but I *have* seen lock-ups while testing a few Divx files, one after the other. Nothing seems to allow you to recover from this short of a re-boot (which means you have to manually connect all over again). The features does have a lot of potential but I agree that it's not quite there yet.

Hopefully they can improve things with firmware upgrades.

Assuming you have looked at the cheat sheet in the very first post of this thread and you still can't get it to work, I don't have any other suggestions. And there have been no firmware upgrades to improve this.

There is no software necessary on the PC. As long as the folders are shared, the player should find them. AVI movies will show up under the movies tab, MP3 and (I believe) WMA files will show up under Music, and JPEGs will show up under the photos tab. If you don't have any of those file types in your shared folder, then nothing will be viewable.
