I had been eyeballing the 1600 for a few weeks and decided to buy it. I have the same complaints as a lot of people where the USB will not read videos and the wifi is via samsung dongle. I have been reading about the 3600 and I am thinking about exchanging the 1600 and going for it. I do have a few questions for your contact.
1. Does the player support using linux? I HATE microsoft and have shares and what not setup with linux and sharing folders to my brothers system that is running windows.
2. Will the USB port on the system play videos? I have read mixed reports about the playback on the USB. If it does not read linux very well I do not mind having to transfer my videos to a usb if needed.
I know that a lot of people buy the blu ray players for the functionality of the disc itself. I look at features. I really like the idea that you can connect the players to netflix and have it work out great. I also like the fact that you can stream video content off your computer. I have backed up a lot of videos on my computer and being able to watch them on tv through the player would be perfect. (Plus it would save me the 800 bucks of a media PC that has a blu ray drive).

Hi. I've played back a few DivX and Xvid videos both via the USB port of the BD-P3600 and via PC streaming. So far, no problems at all playing back videos from the USB drive. The PC streaming feature for me has been a bit flaky, not 100% reliable. And without the "remember me" feature to remember my credentials next time I connect, I don't find it particularly useful.
Linux and Mac platforms are not supported. Only Windows XP and Windows Vista, currently. Netflix online streaming works very well on this player.
Hope that helps.
