    Hi,

has anybody succeeded in streaming files from a Windows 7 computer?

I can find the folders in manual mode but they show up empty.

I've searched thru this thread and did not find any reference to Win 7.

    Thanks.

    Default Windows 7

Yes Whygee I can access my win-7-laptop.
Not working in auto mode though, only in manual.

In manual I enter the ip-adress+folder+user
nothing in the password (I have no password on my user laptop).

Do you have avi or mp4 or mkv in your folder ?
Put some mp3 and jpg also and see if you
can access them with the photo or music menu.

You have to play with the sharing properties of
    the network in win-7...

It's difficult to explain because my win-7 is in french...
But right click on the network and tell me what you have
    for sharing setting...

My Windows is in an English but I speak French if it can help.

I created a fodler named "test" in the root of C:\ and I've put a jpg, a mkv and a avi file in it.

I can access the folder, but it still shows up as empty.

I've clicked "Share this folder" under advanced sharing and then I've ticked "allow" for all options under "Everyone".

    Default Windows 7 setting.

    Whygee,

    I share a full drive F: with "A" has a sharing name.
(It's faster for selecting it in the 3600)

    NOTE:
In fact the F: drive is a 16G SD- memory card who stay
in my sd sloth all the time. I dont know if it play a factor
    in the sharing thing...

You will find in the link below 5 jpeg
    showing my Win-7 (french) setting:

win-7-01 to 04 is my network setting.
    and
win-7-05 is my drive F: sharing setting.

Let me know the result of your testing.

    Thanks for your help.

I've shared my whole drive and now I can see the files, but only when the are in the root. However, when I select a MKV file, it doesn't playback (it just hangs so I have to reboot the player).

I'll see if there's anything else I can do.

    Default MKV files

What are your firmware version because mkv file play only
    since firmware 2.02.

Does you mkv files can play when you put it in a usb-key or drive
    or a dvd ?

In my link there are mkv who play well on my 3600.
    Try this one:
    House-fast-forward-ok.mkv

    Test it on usb-key.

I can see all my files not only in the root...

Look in the sharing if there a mention of "include sub-folders"
    or something like that.
I don't have my win-7-laptop with me now so I cant verify that.

I have no problems playing MKV files on USB stick or if they are on my XP computer.

I'll check my Win 7 sharing settings again.

    Edit: my firmware is 2.04

why would people want to split mvk files....wouldnt it be possible for samsung to update the firmware to allow ntfs support for external hard drives,.
by no means guys am i moaning at you but surely its only right that samsung should look at keeping the customers happy....im still struggling at getting it to connect to the pc asi keep getting wrong username and password error....this is one reason i would love to fill a large hard drive connect it to the player and watch from there...?

    Default NTFS drive.

Since firmware 2.02 you should be able to connect a NTFS-usb drive
and stream out of it without problem...

What is your firmware version ? and in what country are you ?

I have the Canadian 2.02 firmware and NTFS-usb drive work
    with my BD-P3600.

Beware though if you want to make a update of your firmware
the safest way is via the CD version of it.
Go to Samsung download center of your country and download
the ISO version and make a CD out of it (with Nero for example)
    to update.

They are horrors stories of those who made an update with the direct on line
or usb version of the firmware. They had to send there blue-ray to Samsung
to get it working again... Not funny since some country have one year warranty
on the unit but only 90 days for the labor part...

So I repeat the safest way-is the CD (ISO) way.
