A simple change of codec and the fast forward-backward button
fonction is back in the mkv files !
It's also perform well with a wifi connexion !

Video codec in avidemux: Mpeg4 avc x.264 and voila !
For now the working resolution is 1280x720 (720P)
Not working with 1920x1080... For now...

You can download the file here if you want to try it

Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire

    The name is 'Fringe-fast-forward-ok.mkv" (33meg).
    or
    'House-fast-forward-ok.mkv" (15meg).

Thanks for keeping this thread updated with the results of your experiments. I'm sure they're helpful for those who want to take advantage of PC streaming and MKV file playback.

Default Canadian BEv2.04 xac is out

The Canadian firmware BEv2.04 xac is out.
But I like the 2.02 version and I'd like to have
a copy of the 2.02 before the upgrade...

    So does anyone here
have the 2.02 xac file ?

    BEv2.02_090???_BDP3600_XAC.zip

Or does anyone upgrade to Bev2.04 ?

Hi - I hust upgraded to BEV 2.04 - But nothing conspicuous has happened !
I have had enless trouble trying to stream movie length MKV's - So I'm presently using Avidemux to make up a copy of Wall-E with the parameters you used ! I'll report in the morning what happened !

First attempt a disaster - Avidemux gave me some warnings when I opened the MKV file - I'll try and capture these:

    1. H.264 detected - I was asked if I wanted a "safer" mode - I said "no" 'cause I didn't want to loose frame accuracy.

    2. I selected "Rebuild frames"

    3. Video codec in avidemux: Mpeg4 avc x.264

    4. Audio : Copy

Will post results when I get up !

Hi, can you read my mkv file perfectly with the 2.04 ?
    Did the fast-forward work ?

    See earlyer post to download.
    House-fast-forward-ok.mkv (15meg).

Note: For the mkv audio in avidemux
    I use AAC (Faac).
If the audio is to low you can boost it
    in the audio filter tab.

Also to save time in your test you can select
a one or two minutes portion of your video with
the A(Start) and B(End) button, and test the result
    very fast in the bd-p3600.

Great advice - will kep testing - My son convinced me to get one of the 1TB External Hard drives from JB and use the BP-3600 USB port to watch the 8gig MKV movies that seem to be available .

I'll test Wall-E now and add details.

Stop Press - My son just rang - He tells me I've got to buy two wireless N routers - and set up one with an ethernet cable to the BD player ! Anyone heard of this - Plus does anyone if the Samsung BD dongle is wireless 'N" or "G" - It makes a big difference ! (Well thats what he says)
