Thread: Hdmi cables and upgrading

  1. Hdmi cables and upgrading

If I upgrade to a really nice capable new hdmi cord. If it's running in and back out of the receiver I have , wouldn't I need to have more than 1?

Yes, if you are using HDMI for your audio and video to a receiver then you need one cable from source to receiver and another from receiver to TV. But honestly I've never seen any evidence that expensive cables are any better than moderately priced ones, at least for current top of the line high definition sources (Blu-ray players with 1080p output and multi-channel digital audio tracks).

Some of the super-cheap no-name cables are of dubious quality, but there are plenty of moderately priced cables that should be fine. Monster does provide "speed ratings" for their cables so even they offer some relatively affordable choices.

Here's an article with some links to some good ones:

    Good luck,
