Default Viera Link - compatible through receiver?

Upgrading soon to the Panasonic new TC 54V10 Plasma TV. Currently using a ONKYO TX-805 receiver to pass HDMI from my Dish Network VIP 722 HD Receiver/DVR and LGBD390 Blu-Ray Player over one single in-wall HDMI Cable (25'). The receiver has multiple HDMI inputs. Before I order TV I need to determine if I need to purchase an additional HDMI cable to install through wall to get maximum performance. I would like to take full advantage of Viera link and reduce number of remotes if possible.

The ONKYO receiver manual addresses option to link remote functions with a Panasonic EZ Sync-capable TV operations with TV, Receiver & DVD, etc. Panasonic manual however does not address EZ Sync-capable interface with receivers.

Very little discussion on Viera Link compatability with outher manufacture products.

    Can anyone advise?

    Hi,

I moved this into a new thread as it is different topic from the thread where it was posted. VIERA Link, Panasonic's version of HDMI-CEC (High Definition Multimedia Interface - Consumer Electronics Control) will work through a receiver to control other devices, but each vendor has their own variations on HDMI-CEC which makes operating different brand components tricky, even with HDMI-CEC enabled on all components. Personally, I don't really care for the assumptions that HDMI-CEC makes in terms of what it powers on and off and how it controls things so I usually disable it on all components.

In terms of whether you'll need another separate HDMI cable, there is no need for this. Route everything through the receiver and run the existing cable to the new TV. The Panasonic V10 is an excellent choice, by the way. Check pricing on OneCall as they usually have pretty good deals. Right now they have a free wall-mount and free shipping:

If you want to control the whole system with a few few remotes as possible, I would recommend getting a Logitech Harmony universal remote. The Harmony One is an excellent choice (under $200) as is the Harmony 900 which is like the One but with RF control so it can operate components through walls or cabinet doors. It's amazing but it's a little pricey (over $350). Other models like the Harmony 670 are also very good and cost a whole lot less.

Here's a link to the Harmony remotes on Amazon:

    Good luck!
